CAFÉ AU LAIT
WINDOW INSTALLATION
2017
Café au Lait is a small and groovy bar at Porto’s downtown. A central hub for the city and an epicenter of cultural nightlife. Its a small bar that hosts eclectic live DJ sets from electronic music to RAP passing through Funk, Soul, and Acid Jazz.
Their ambition is to highlight new talents in the city, ranging from music to the visual arts, and this is also why they host a new installation in their store window every month. Each month they commission a different artist to intervene in the glass.
I wanted to create a full door pattern, with bold shapes and organic details, that had the same area of form as it has of counter form. By doing so I activated both the interiors and exteriors of the club. I find this particularly interesting because the bar is too small and people are always hanging and dancing between the street and the flashing lights.
