Gur is a Portuguese brand that has been reinventing, with a contemporary approach, the traditional rag rugs, since 2013.

The brand has been collaborating with a wide range of illustrators and artists with the commitment to mix illustrators and artisanal techniques.

I was invited by Célia Esteves, the founder of Gur, to design a new rug for the brand. I wanted to illustrate a funny and cute animal. The giraffe suddenly made sense to me because it was the most “vertical” animal I could remember. The fring at the end of the rug emphasizes the giraffe's verticality.
