PHILANTRA FESTIVAL

TEXTILE, EXHIBITION

2015

Philantra is an annual independent art festival that aims to bring visibility and support emerging artistic projects – individual or collective – with a wide range of areas from performing and fine arts to multimedia arts.

I was invited to be part of a collective exhibition of the third edition, which had the motto “O que queres ser quando fores grande? – What do you want to be when you grow up?”.

After thinking about this deep question, my inner reply was to keep myself curious about new things and, of course, the quite naive and cliché word 'happiness' was always pumping in my head.

With this combo in mind, curiosity, and happiness, I decided to play with patterns in a loom for the first time. I made the loom itself and I used the process to make the piece a playground to explore new techniques and methodology.

In the end, I added the word happy to the composition and the will to be a plant sitter and writing brunch reviews while playing patterns on a loom, on the piece description.
