THE 19TH ANNUAL WEBBY AWARDS

ILLUSTRATION

2015

The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. In their 19th annual edition, the theme was “Welcome to the Web Invented”.

The Royal Studio was in charge to illustrate the basic tools on the internet and to envision the communication strategy.

I was invited to join the team and recreate the platforms (Youtube, Tinder, Instagram, etc.) as if they were complex machines behind their friendly user interface.

We were deeply inspired by old computers from the ’60s and querly robotic mechanisms. This universe fuelled our imagination to recreate 12 machines.

3D Print Machines, Youtube, Google, Tinder, eBay, Amazon, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Wikipedia, Dropbox, and Oculus Rift were revisited and illustrated as big machines powered by humans.

We had a lot of fun rethinking these platforms, playing with bold colors and unexpected plot twists that turn these machines into quite obsolete but funny and complex mechanisms.
